Incongruous

Today was one of those days where my fingertips ached to peck on my keyboard and produce a piece of poetry. I’m also feeling an itty-bitty affinity for alliteration, but you’ve probably figured that out by now. Read on for the result (I swear it’s short).

Deliriously delectable, your smile
Seems out of place
Contradicting the fury from
Our lopsided squabble
Where my ears, filled with
Absurd accusations, still ring.

I fight the urge to reach out,
To swat that thousand-watt smirk
Bat it like a tetherball
And send it soaring into oblivion
Giving my wounded spirit
A bit of companionship.
