Sometimes life gets in the way. You don't want it to happen, and you certainly don't ask for it to happen, but it happens all the same. Sort of like pulling an onion ring from a bag of French fries. It can either be a delicious, crisp golden-brown bit of magic in your mouth or a grease-filled, tongue-burning, stomach-wrenching horror.

I like to write when I get my hair done. Weird? Maybe. But there is something about plunking down in a chair, watching creative folks bustle around clients in an artful modern dance of sorts. It gets me in a writing mood, and I almost always crank out a poem while my grays go bye-bye. Last week, I asked Facebook friends for nouns and verbs, thinking it would be a great interactive way to spark some short poetry. I was not disappointed.
